After a thorough Andis Masters Review?
Well, you’re in the right place for answers.
In this review, I’ll share my experience with the cordless Andis Masters.
We’ll go through what makes this clipper so great, what could make it better, and what it’s not so great at.
I’ll also be comparing it with the latest Cordless Masters, to see how they compare and I’ll put them up against the jewel in the Wahl Crown. The seniors.
So, with that said, let’s get started…
Andis Masters Review – Andis Masters Overview
In a rush?
Let’s look at an overall summary:
This is what I’d class as the crown jewel of the Andis brand… and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. The Andis Cordless Masters is a cordless hair clipper that offers high performance and durability. It has a powerful rotary motor that runs at 7,200 strokes per minute and can cut wet or dry hair without stalling or dragging. It has a carbon steel blade that can be adjusted from 0.5 mm to 2.4 mm for different cutting lengths and styles. The clipper is made of heavy-duty aluminum and weighs only 370 grams, making it comfortable to hold and use. The clipper has a lithium-ion battery that can run for 90 minutes and recharge in 60 minutes. It also comes with a plug or charging stand it’s up to you. It is a very powerful clipper but it can get hot after a few hours of use. Overall it is worth it if you wish to have the cordless version of this clipper.

Andis Masters Review – Pros And Cons
Overall, the Andis Master clipper is a powerful and versatile tool that is a great choice for barbers and hair enthusiasts.
However, it is important to consider the potential drawbacks before making a purchase.
What I would say is this clipper is quite lightweight compared to the corded version.
The Andis cordless masters weigh about 370 grams or 0.65 kilograms. This is slightly lighter than the corded version, which weighs about 1.25 pounds or 0.57 kilograms.
Comfort
The Cordless Masters are designed to be comfortable to hold and reduce arm fatigue.
It comes with a nice charging dock with the charger and you get clipper oil. But with no guards, these are sold separately.
But when you do have them, the click lever is quite secure, the stainless steel blades cut well and are long-lasting… and the lever gives a wide cutting.
With the guards, you can get very detailed with no cuts. In terms of cutting performance, there’s little to fault.
Noise
Now… what I will say is.. they are quite loud- It’s probably due to the power and they can overheat when being relentlessly used back to back.
However, heating up is standard for most clippers if you’re always using them.
If you are a professional, give them time to charge and rest, don’t have these be the only clipper in your arsenal as you can burn them out.
Overall it’s a great cutting clipper and an Iconic clipper for Andis.
Now let’s take a deeper look at what this clipper provides.
Power and Performance
The Andis Masters are powerful clippers that are obviously suitable for both professional and personal use.
The motor is capable of cutting through thick and coarse hair with ease, making it an ideal choice for barbers.
Performance-wise, these clippers are exceptional, the lever is secure, the motor runs great, and the guards (which are not included in the package).
They are very secure and allow you to get very detailed with cuts.
Magnetic Motor
They are equipped with a powerful magnetic motor that delivers high-speed cutting performance.
I would certainly say they are intermediate clippers as in they’re not too forgiving, these things have power.
However, they are not complicated to the point where you’ll break your brain trying to use them and you get an understanding of how they work quite quickly.
The click lever is firm and throughout my time of having this clipper, they haven’t faltered or gotten weak. When I place it on a point, it certainly stays there.
For those who don’t prefer a floating lever clipper, yes it’s not quite the same but honestly, I’ve used a wide range of floating lever clippers and this isn’t too different, if you want the masters, you’ll come to adopt quite quickly in my opinionated.
It comes with the iconic, chrome-plated carbon-steel blade that is adjustable from fine to coarse (#000 to #1) – 0.5 mm and 2.4mm. This is a nice cutting range and if you want them to cut closer, you have the option to zero gaps in the blades (but initially, they don’t come zero-gapped)
For my barbers who wish to zero gap their clippers, you can check out this guide on how to do so or check out this video if you want to be more specific:
The Ultimate Guide to Zero Gapping Clippers: (All You Need to Know)
Similar to the crunch blade on Wahl models, it does come with the ever so crisp-sounding crunch blade technology so you really hear the hair being cut as it passes through different guidelines. It’s a nice feature that certainly helps with accuracy and detailing.
Design and Build Quality
The Andis Masters have a sleek and stylish design, with a Gold version that is sure to catch your eye.
Andis didn’t really think too much when making this clipper, they simply repackaged the corded version.
But the original corded version was great so it’s still a win.
As mentioned previously, the clipper is made of lightweight yet durable aluminum, making it perfect for extended everyday use and it can take a few drops… But obviously try not to drop them…
The clipper is also designed to fit comfortably in your hand, allowing for easy maneuverability.
All around it’s elementary, very tidy, and the ergonomics are great…
But I would say, unlike Wahl Clippers like the Magic Clip
These clippers do have a thumb indent and because of that, you lose a little grip as the casing is quite smooth.
Blade Quality and Adjustability
The blade is a ridge carbon steel blade that is very durable and long-lasting.
It has, a chrome-plated carbon-steel blade and the click lever is quite secure and firm.
In summary, the Andis Masters are a great choice for those looking for a powerful and durable clipper. They are equipped with a powerful motor, have a sleek and stylish design, and feature adjustable blades for precise cuts. With these key features, the Andis Masters are sure to impress both professional barbers and home users alike.
Durability and Longevity
The clippers themselves, are quite durable.
I’ve had my clippers for a few years and physically from all of the bumps and hits, they’ve still managed to stay quite firm.
On general cleaning maintenance, like cleaning and oiling, that’s pretty standard.
The clipper comes with a cleaning brush and oil, which can be used to keep the blade and motor running smoothly
Additionally, the blade can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement, which extends the lifespan of the clipper.
Overall, the Andis Master is a reliable and long-lasting clipper that can withstand the demands of a busy salon or barbershop.
Its durable construction and powerful motor make it a great choice for professionals who need a clipper that can handle heavy use and provide consistent results.
The latest Model Of The Andis Cordless Masters
Now, I own the classic cordless masters but there’s an even later version currently out on the market (the link to these can be located further down below).
The new upgraded motor increases speed, power, and battery life… The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 2 hours and can be charged in 90 minutes.
Similar to the classic cordless it comes with a charging stand, a charging adapter, a blade cleaning brush, and blade oil – but no guards sadly, as these have to be picked up separately.
The motor has the same power at 7200 pm but now with constant speed technology ensures that the motor increases in power as it meets resistance. This allows the blades to cut effortlessly through all types of hair, without grabbing or pulling.
It was already a good bulk clearing clipper but now it’s even better.
The ultra-durable housing design is made of indestructible aluminum, meaning it’s able to withstand any drops and exterior damage.
Although the entire design of the clipper is slick and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, one noticeable feature is the wobbly plastic on/off switch on the side of the clipper.
Not entirely a deal breaker, however, it would be nice to see a stainless steel push-button incorporated into the design.
Now, one of the most talked about issues with the old version was the noise of the clippers, which may impact performance. However, this seems to be an issue that has now been fixed.
To know if this is true, you will have to get it to find out!
So, if you’re after the latest version which essentially is the same clipper with a longer battery life, runs cooler, and is quieter. You can pick them up below:
Comparison with Other Brands
When it comes to hair clippers, Andis Master is one of the most popular brands in the market. However, there are other brands that offer similar features and quality. In this section, we will compare Andis Master its rival clipper from another BIG brand.
Andis Cordless Master vs. Wahl 5-star seniors
The clipper I see a great comparison to would be the Wahl 5-star seniors.
Just like the masters are the shining light for the Andis, the same applies to the Wahl seniors. In terms of power, they certainly match.
Wahl Seniors Review: Expert Insights on Performance and Ease of Use
The first difference is the design and appearance of the clippers. The Andis masters have a sleek and shiny metal body that reflects elegance and style.
The Wahl seniors have a more classic and practical look, with a plastic top and a chrome bottom.
Weight
The Andis masters are slimmer and lighter than the Wahl seniors, weighing about 370 grams or 0.65 kilograms, compared to 454 grams or 1.2 kilograms for the Wahl seniors.
However, the grip on the Wahl seniors is more comfortable and ergonomic than the Andis masters.
Motor
The second difference is the motor and power of the clippers. The Andis Masters runs at 7200 rpm, which is faster than the Wahl Seniors’ 6900 rpm motor.
This means that the Andis Masters can cut through thick or wet hair more smoothly and efficiently than the Wahl Seniors.
The Wahl Seniors can too and they have constant speed technology that prevents the motor from stalling or dragging when cutting through different hair types.
The Wahl seniors come with a shorter battery life of 70 minutes while the Andis masters have a 90-minute battery with the latest version giving a full 2 hours of cordless runtime
Blade
The third difference is the blade and cutting range of the clippers. The Andis masters have an all-purpose blade that can perform fades or bulk cuts with ease.
The blade has a flexible side lever that allows you to adjust the cutting length from 0.5 mm to 2.4 mm.
The Wahl Seniors have two types of blades: a standard blade for all-purpose cutting, and a fade blade for precision fades and above-average bulk cuts.
The blade has a more rigid lever that lets you change the cutting length from 1 mm to 3 mm.
The Wahl seniors also come with three guards (1/16″ to 3/16″) that can help you achieve different styles and lengths.
The Andis masters do not include any guards, which have to be bought separately.
The fourth difference is the heat and noise level of the clippers.
The Andis masters tend to get hotter than the Wahl seniors, especially after prolonged use. This may cause discomfort or irritation to your skin or scalp.
The Wahl Seniors do not heat up as much, but they run noisier and vibrate more than the Andis masters.
In conclusion, both the Andis Masters and the Wahl Seniors are excellent hair clippers that can suit different needs and preferences.
The Andis masters are more suitable for those who value elegance, speed, and versatility in their clippers.
The Wahl Seniors are more suitable for those who prefer durability, power, and accessories in their clippers. In terms of these two, the best choice depends on your personal taste and budget.
