So you’re looking for a Babyliss Gold Fx review?
Well, you are in the right place for answers as today, I’ll be reviewing the Babyliss Gold Fx.
I’ll be assessing all the aspects of this trimmer and come to an overall conclusion of whether I would recommend buying these or not.
So, with that said, let’s get into it…
BaByliss Gold Fx Trimmer Review
As a barber and owner of multiple hair clippers and trimmers, especially from babyliss…
I have had the chance to try the Babyliss Gold FX Trimmer for my professional use.
The trimmer boasts a combination of style and performance that have impressed not only me but also many of my clients (The gold metal may have had a part to play in that).
In this review, we’re going to disscuss the the key features of the Gold FX Trimmer which make it a great tool for barbers and for home use and…
What it could it could be lacking.
In a rush?
Here’s my quick overview.
To put it simply, this trimmer is in a league of it’s own. It features a high-speed, high-torque, Italian-designed motor that runs at 7,200 rpm. You’ll love the knuckle barbell grip handle for comfort. Naturally, this trimmer comes with a graphite deep-tooth blade (a great bulk hair-clearing blade that produces crisp lines). But if you want a different blade on your trimmer, Babyliss offer a wide range of blades. It has 2 runtime hours on a single charge and comes with a hanging hook. All-round it’s an excellent liner. If you are new to Babyliss, you might need time to adjust to its shape but, once you get used to it, you’ll love it as it excels in all aspects
- Secure knuckle barbel Grip
- Highly precise DLC Deep tooth blade
- Easy to clean + Zero gappable teeth
- Powerful 7,200 rpm motor
- Long 2 hoour Battery life.
- Gold shine, can begin to chip away after lot’s of uses.
- The Babyliss torchlight design shape may be arkward for beginners.
Pros And Cons
Now let’s touch on what this trimmer has to offer in little bit more detail.
First and foremost is the power.
These things have some don’t hold back when it comes output from the motor. In fact….
The Gold Fx boasts one of the most powerful mortors in the market. It pushes out 7200rpm (this is the amount of time the blade moves side to side per minute). Yes, the motor pushes the blades side to sie 7200 times per minute.
When you put that insane cutting action with the DLC deep tooth blades, you very quickly picture how the blades grip onto all hair types and quicly slices through it like it wasn’r even there.
the deep tooth blade is blade that’s great at tackling bulk hair but if you want a blade that cut even EVEN finer you can simply swap out the blade on your trimmer with one of the MANYYYY other blade provided by Babyliss. (I chose the gold fx T blade)
This is something not many other brand can do and that’s want makes this trimmer trimer flexible. It’s very flexible.
You can check out the many T blades babyliss has on offer in the guide below:
Now, onto the next part of this trimmer that makes it stand out.
The battery. With a 2 hour battery life, it has plenty of juice to shape to to cut hair basically all day.
I can vouch for it but also as said in the Reddit post others would agree too.
While in use, this trimmer does feel secure, though, this can take some getting use to (we go over this in the next section).
And we can’t talk about trimmer without going over the very calssy and gold finish that really gives this trimmer a premium look. It’s an eye cather and a compliment raiser. (For my barbers who grab this trimmer, you might catch a couple glances as you work 🙂
Lastly, the trimmer comes in a package that comes with a zero-gap tool, a blade guard, clipper oil and more.
Overall this trimmer has a lot gloing for it. It’s among the very best in market with what it does well but…
It doesn’t come without it’s flaws. We go ove this next.
What’s Not to Like
This trimmer in hand it great, it’s like a want that compliments and contours your palms perfectly but…
It does take some getting used to.
As a beginner/newbie ro Babyliss, getting to grips with that torchlight shape did take a few goes. It just simply isn’t you classic trimmer shape.
This a be an instant turn for some who don’t like it from the bat, (and you can certainly return the product if it simply isn’t for ypu but I found that after a few goes, you do get used to it and you will eventually come to like how it feels in hand.
Secondly, while its design is eye-catching, the gold finish might not appeal to everyone. It’s starts of bright and little reflective but after lot’s of uses, you can often notice the shine begin to dissapear from the product which makes it lose it’s premium and sometimes can make the trimmer look a little ugly.
This was a problem with the first release of the product but after many iterations, Babyliss have applied and less shinier but also longer lasting gold coating to their trimmers.
This means they look good for LONGER.
Babyliss also released this trimmer model in a wide range of colors, so from that standpoint, this negative has been negated, check them out below:
And the LAST thing that coule be a “drawback” about this product. That would be its price point. The GoldFX trimmer falls on the higher end of the price spectrum amongst trimmers.
This could be a barrier for some potential buyers, particularly those on a budget or looking for a more affordable option.
However, you can’t really be surprised, Babyliss is deemed to be a luxury brand in this space, and their products are more expensive BUT the quality speaks to the pricetag (imo). And if you truelly want an exceptional clipper, you sometimes have to go outside of budget a little.

In summary, I’ve highlighted both the advantages and drawbacks of the BaByliss GoldFX trimmer, presenting a balanced look at what’s to like and not to like about this trimmer.
Next, we’ll take a deeper look at each specific part.
Let’s dive in.
Key Features of Gold FX Trimmer
I’ll expand on the key factors of the trimmers as a whole then we’ll touch on the positives and negatives.
Design and Aesthetics
The first thing that struck me about the Babyliss Gold FX Trimmer was its visually appealing gold frame. Such a sleek and refined look that catches the eye and is a personal preference for me . And if you like a having people watch as you perform some mesmorising cuts, these will draw some eyeballs in your direction.
This clipper is best performs whilst being cordless.
It allows me the freedom to move around my clients and work on their hair from different angles without the hassle of a cord getting in the way. The trimmer’s lithium-ion battery provides up to 2 hours of runtime, which is more than enough for a busy day at the barbershop.
As this YouTuber highlights, this trimmer’s battery enables prolonged usage without compromising its performance(2 hours to be exact).
This reliable power source means you can trust this trimmer to get the job done without having to charge it constantly.
Again, getting used to the shape itself can be abit arkward to begin with but after some time you’ll start to get the hang of thing and then you’ll really begin to enjoy the cordles capablities.
Performance and Durability:
Equipped with a high-torque, brushless Ferrari-designed engine, the Gold FX Trimmer provides both power and precision.
It deals with hair hair type and shapes. facial hair, body hair, it doesn’t matter. This trimmer very easily cuts through it all.
This trimmer boasts not only exceptional precision when it comes to outlining and designing but can take bulk hair with little snagging. So again, tons of flexibilty with no limitations.
Adjustability and Accessories:
The BaByliss Gold FX Trimmer comes with a zero-gap tool but also comes zero gapped out of the box. (The tool is just an added to really make sure you achieve those crisp lines)
You also get:
- Hair clipper oil to keep your blades running smootly and overheat less
- A brsuh to keep your blades clean
- A replacement cam follower
- And blade guard.
All of these tools have given my trimmer some extra life and the’re the reason I’ve had these trimmers for a few years.
Regular maintenace is what has kept these trimmers performing exceptionally for so many years!
In conclusion, from its stunning design to its efficient performance, the BaByliss Gold FX Trimmer has proven to be a valuable addition to my collection of hair grooming tools.
Its key features fulfill my needs as a professional hairstylist and enable me to deliver precise and satisfying results for my clients, let’s now touch on some of the pros, cons advantages, and disadvantages of the trimmer.
Comparison with Similar Products
When you look at the premium trimmer market there’s not many that can compete with the Babyliss Gold Fx. That’s until Wahl droped this guy:
The Wahl Professional 5 Star Gold Cordless Detailer Li Trimmer ranks high among clippers. It delivers precise cuts efficiently.
Boasting a broad T-shaped blade, it features titanium and DLC coatings. These attributes extend its durability, fend off rust, and maintain a cool touch. The blade can be adjusted to a zero gap, ideal for meticulous trims, outlining, and detailing. The trimmer is powered by a robust motor, operating at 6800rpm.
Its lithium-ion battery provides 100 minutes of run time from a 45-minute charge, alongside a clever LED indicator. It is accompanied by a sleek charging stand for space-saving, three trimming guides, a pro-set tool, and additional accessories.
While I find the Babyliss Fx to be a superior trimmer on the whole, this trimmer holds its ground admirably and wold be very good option if you prefer a trrimmer with a longer T blade and a little bit more girth.
if your looking to pick it up, you can do so below:
In my experience, the BaBylissPRO GoldFX Outlining Trimmer has proven to be a reliable and efficient tool for both professional barbers and home users. Sporting a visually appealing design and solid construction, it has caught my attention in terms of aesthetics and performance.
It’s not just me who think so, take a look at the many raving reviews on amazon.
“This is expensive but worth it. It’s sharp, accurate, I get a clean neat cut every time.”review
I find that the cordless design makes it easy to maneuver around, allowing me to achieve clean, precise trims without being confined by a power cord.
The motor of the BaBylissPRO GoldFX Outlining Trimmer is both quiet and powerful, making it suitable for younger clients who might be sensitive to noise.
Additionally, the Babyliss brand offers a wide range of blades, making it versatile enough to cater to different hair types and lengths.
While the marketing efforts by BaBylissPRO have undoubtedly boosted the trimmer’s popularity, I do certainly think its value is justified by its performance and efficiency.
