Purpose of clipper oil?

The purpose of hair clipper oil is to lubricate hair clippers to stop friction and overheating of the hair clipper blades. Clipper oils can also provide a layer on top of hair clipper blades that aids to prevent rusting.

Never neglect hair clipper oiling. Oiling your hair clipper regularly ensures your hair clippers stay with you for a long period.

Hair clippers heat over time and the blades begin to grind away at each other. You should apply a mineral oil-based product to help deal with these two problems.

Hair clipper oils contain purified white mineral oil which is heat tolerant and provides great lubrication. Without lubrication, your clipper blades eventually wear themselves out from friction and eventually become dull and in need of sharpening.

Sharpening hair clippers can become very expensive over time, so to avoid this, simply oil your hair clippers regularly.

Not sure how to do so, don’t worry, I outline that next.

How To Apply/Properly Oil Hair Clippers

Remember
You should look to apply oil on your hair clippers every 2-3 uses. This ensures your hair clipper is sufficiently lubricated without filling your hair clipper with unnecessary excess oil.

These are the steps you should take when oiling your hair clippers:

Step 1:

Turn your hair clipper on

Step 2:

Apply three drops of hair clipper oil at the point where the top cutting rail meets the clipper. The oil should be applied all across that front.

Step 3:

Apply a drop of hair clipper to either side of the hair clipper

Step 4:

Turn the hair clippers off and turn them upside down to allow excess hair clipper oil to slide out.

Step 5:

Remove any excess hair clippers from the blade using a cloth.
